Cuba reports 297 new cases of COVID-19, no deaths and 393 medical discharges

At the close of this Tuesday, April 19, 4,537 patients were admitted, 3,101 suspected, 59 under surveillance and 1,377 confirmed active, according to the Ministry of Public Health.

On day 7, 828 samples were taken for epidemiological surveillance, of which 297 were positive, for 3.8% positivity. The country accumulates 13,636,174 samples carried out and 1,100,609 positive (8.1%).

Of the 1,100,609 patients diagnosed with the disease, 1,377 remain hospitalized, 1,353 of them with stable clinical evolution.

The country accumulates 8,522 deaths ( no deaths were reported on the day) , for a lethality of 0.77% vs 1.23% in the world and 1.78% in the Americas; two evacuated and 57 returned to their countries.

On the day there were 393 medical discharges, adding to date 1,090,651 (99.1%).

24 confirmed patients are treated in intensive care, 16 of them critical and 8 serious.

Of the total cases (297):

  • 291 were contacts of confirmed cases, 3 with a foreign source of infection and 3 without a specified source of infection.
  • 153 were female and 144 male.
  • 7% (21) were asymptomatic cases, accumulating 146,637 (13.3% of those confirmed to date).
  • By age groups: under 20 years old (118), from 20 to 39 years old (59), from 40 to 59 years old (53), from 60 and over (67).
